A cause

I used to be passionate about a great many things when I was younger. Everything I did was with my whole heart, mind, strength. . . Where has that passion gone?

I've discovered about myself that I am extremely passionate. When I take on a task I do so with everything I have. The greater the task the more dedicated I become.

This fact tells me one important thing about myself. I was born to pour everything I have into a cause, into something worthwhile. While I don't hold to greatness nor expect it, such a cause does not have to be world changing.

The question then is begged in my mind and even more so in my heart. . .what is the cause I was born to pour my soul into?

I regret that I have no as of yet discovered what intention God has for my passion, intelligence, dedication, leadership. . .

I'm not even sure whom to go to for advice. I know all too well what passions my friends of many ages have and I feel no great pull to any of them. Where then should I turn for advice and direction when even God himself says to wait?

It has also given me thought to another matter, that of love. I thought for the longest time I knew what I wanted in a wife one day, but in writing this post I realize there was something missing in what I've been searching for in women I've had interest in. I believe I need a strong woman who shares my passion and dedication and strength, who will stand not behind me, but beside me in every battle I fight as my equal partner and best friend. Now the question gains more importance due to this fact: What is the passion I was born to pursue, the cause God wants me to give everything I have to? I need the answer to that before I can answer the question of whom I will one day marry.

The more I think about it, the more I realize that it is impossible for me to be truly happy without giving everything I have to a cause. The happiest moments of my life have been when all I am is pressed into service of a passion greater than myself. I want that. I need that.
